Universal Partnerships & Licensing and Illumination Entertainment have announced a master gaming agreement with Hasbro for the upcoming film Despicable Me 2, which will arrive in theaters July 3, 2013.

Hasbro joins global master toy licensee Thinkway Toys and master domestic apparel licensee Hybrid Apparel.

Hasbro plans to release two collectible Minion Pods games for the sequel, as well as Despicable Me 2 versions of Monopoly and Operation. All four games will include collectible Minions that can be played across the entire line, which will hit shelves in summer 2013.

“We are excited to join with one of the world’s most well-respected branded-play companies as our global game licensee for Despicable Me 2,” says Stephanie Sperber, president, UP&L. “Hasbro has found great success in turning their brands into unique gaming experiences for consumers. Universal and Illumination are fortunate to work with Hasbro to bring Despicable Me characters to life for game night.”

Illumination and Universal also recently announced plans for a third film in the franchise, The Untitled Minions Project, which will star the Minion characters from the Despicable films. The Untitled Minions Project is set for release Dec. 19, 2014.
