Science Museum Group Enterprises has announced a new partnership with Wold Top Brewery for a beer inspired by the U.K. National Railway Museum’s Mallard steam locomotive.

The ale is part of the 75th anniversary celebrations for the Mallard, which still holds the world speed record for a steam locomotive.

Mallard beer will be available in bottles at the National Railway Museum and selected partner outlets and on draught in pubs and hotels throughout the U.K.

The beer launched in conjunction with the start of anniversary celebrations last week, the centerpiece of which is the Great Gathering wherein the three remaining operational A4 locomotives–Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa and Bittern–have been reunited with their sister locomotives–Dwight D Eisenhower Dominion of Canada (both transported across the Atlantic for the gathering) and Mallard–for the first time since the 1930s.

They are the only six remaining Sir Nigel Gresley-designed A4 locomotives in the world and will surround the Great Hall Turntable at York’s National Railway Museum this month.

“We are delighted that Wold Top Brewery has licensed the Mallard brand and joins the roster which will help fund our ongoing programs at the National Railway Museum,” says Gemma Woodward, licensing manager, SMGE.
