For the second year in a row, Pokémon characters will be featured in McDonald’s Happy Meals beginning June 15. This year’s promotion will be themed Black-White, in anticipation of the fall release of two new video games–“Pokémon Black Version 2” and “Pokémon White Version 2”–for the Nintendo DS family of systems.

Pokémon Happy Meals will feature 12 Pokémon Trading Card Game cards and six Pokémon figures, including Pikachu. The promotion will continue through July 5 in North America, and will be launched in other major markets around the world later in the year.

McDonald’s will support the campaign with television advertising, in-store point-of-purchase displays and online activities at McWorld.com and HappyMeal.com.

“Last year’s Pokémon Happy Meal promotion was a huge hit, and we’re certain Pokémon fans will love what’s in store this summer,” says J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing, The Pokémon Company International. “It’s been fun partnering with McDonald’s to once again provide something special to our fans.”

The Happy Meal partnership is only the most recent deal for the brand, which has already seen a lot of movement this year. A new Pokémon trading card game, Black & White–Dark Explorers, launched May 9, and the new season of “Pokémon: BW–Rival Destinies,” began airing on Cartoon Network in February.
