New restaurant will feature the hockey star’s wine and whisky labels as well as his favorite dishes.

Former Canadian ice hockey player and coach Wayne Gretzky has partnered with HMSHost to debut his new restaurant No. 99 Gretzky’s Wine & Whisky at Edmonton International Airport.

IMG, Gretzky’s licensing agent, brokered the deal.

The full-service restaurant and bar will focus on Gretzky’s post-hockey career. It will emphasize whisky and wine and will include an extensive list of local Canadian wine as well as wine from the Wayne Gretzky Estates in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley.

The whisky selection will also feature the release of Gretzky’s own label.

Gretzky’s influence will also be found on the menu, which will include items such as perogies, penne ragu, polish sausage and more.

“It is fitting that Wayne has opened his first airport restaurant back where he started his NHL career,” says Daniel Siegel, vice president, licensing, IMG. “With Edmonton being one of Canada’s major airports, it won’t just be Oilers fan who will get to enjoy it. With such an eclectic mix of food and drink, not to mention the chance to celebrate one of hockey’s greatest icons, Gretzky’s Wine & Whisky will be a must for any traveler.”

No. 99 Grezky’s Wine & Whisky will open today at the Edmonton International Airport in the Domestic-International Departures area.
