Lollipop brand sweetens product portfolio with a frozen treats range.

Perfetti Van Melle has partnered with consumer goods company Unilever for a range of individually wrapped Chupa Chups ice cream in Europe.

Beanstalk, Perfetti Van Melle’s brand extension agency, brokered the deal.

“We are delighted to welcome such a significant player as Unilever to the Chupa Chups licensing program,” says Lisa Reiner, managing director, Europe and Asia Pacific, Beanstalk. “Their extensive experience and leading position in the frozen novelty space, as well as their approach to responsible nutrition, make them an ideal partner to translate Chupa Chups’ distinguishable brand equities and flavors into the ice cream category.”

The new ice cream line will include Chupa Chups Calippo Shots in two flavors–Cherry Banana and Cola Lemon.

The products are set to launch at out-of-home distribution channels in Europe this spring.

“Chupa Chups as a brand has an incredibly loyal following, with many consumers having fond memories of enjoying our lollipops over the course of many years,” says Marta Ballesteros, senior brand manager, licensing, Perfetti Van Melle. “Our distinct visual identity and range of exciting flavors translate perfectly well into ice cream and we are thrilled to be working with such an expert partner as Unilever on extending our reach into the frozen novelty category.”
