Going the Distance

Dependable Solutions recommends how to stay the course when creating a licensing program.

One of the on-demand sessions currently streaming on is “Who Moved the Finishing Line? Keeping Track of Where Each Process Is While You Aim for Success in Licensing,” moderated by Marty Malysz, president, Dependable Solutions.

In the session, Malysz shares his insights to help anyone in the licensing industry stay the course despite any obstacles. To Malysz, licensing can be a long, calculated process. But it’s not a one-size-fits-all process. Procedures differ from country to country, and overlooked strategies could mean financial risks.

Some obstacles specified were what Malysz called “never-ending” change: unseen costs, personnel changes, holiday observations. But Malysz also addressed the impact of COVID-19 in the workday and pointed out how consumers’ habits have shifted since the pandemic, such as increasing athleisure apparel and plant-based milk sales.

Malysz stresses the importance of working as a team and keeping an open communication line and preparation to avoid missteps and keep all licensing processes on track.

“It is a lot of short races together, says Malysz. “It’s all about perseverance.”
