VF Corporation’s president and chief operating officer Steven Rendle will become the company’s chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

He will succeed Eric Wiseman, who will continue to serve as executive chairman on VF’s board of directors.

In his new position, Randle will be responsible for VF’s strategic direction, implementation and achievement of its growth plan and day-to-day operations.

As president and chief operating officer, Rendle oversaw the company’s business coalitions worldwide and was also responsible for VF’s global supply chain and direct-to-consumer platforms. He also boasts more than 30 years of experience, 16 of which have been with VF in multiple key positions.

“Steve is the right person to serve as VF’s next chief executive officer as we begin our 118th year of business,” says Wiseman. “As you’d expect of VF, and with full credit to our board of directors, we have a long-standing, rigorous and successful approach to succession planning. We’ve been working since 2008 to identify and prepare the right person to succeed me when the time comes. That time is now.”
