MoMA Design Store and Nike have announced the first in a series of limited-edition product releases and co-branded products, exclusively at MoMA Design Store and on its website in the U.S.
The MoMA x Nike Everyday Sock features both the MoMA logo and the iconic Nike Swoosh, created by graphic designer, Carolyn Davidson, in the 1970s. The socks feature “Just Do It” stitching at the toe and will be available in sizes small through X-large. More special-edition products will be announced later.
Nike has a long-standing relationship with MoMA Design Store and The Museum of Modern Art’s curatorial program. Three examples of the original design for Nike’s Air Force 1 Sneakers (1980) were featured in MoMA’s 2017 exhibition, “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” The exhibition featured 111 items of clothing and accessories that have had a strong impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries. MoMA Design Store first collaborated with Nike in 2018 to celebrate the inclusion of sneakers in
“Items” by launching the OFF-WHITE by Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Force 1 black edition sneakers, accompanied by a co-branded MoMA Nike Elite basketball sock. MoMA Design Store most recently partnered with Nike’s Jordan Brand this year to launch an Air Jordan 3 shoe and the accompanying apparel line designed by Nina Chanel Abney, an artist in MoMA’s collection.
