Komar, a sleepwear licensee, has promoted Maya Assis to vice president, licensing for the company. Assis will head up all licensing deals for the brand.
“This is very exciting,” says Assis. “Komar is always growing, they’re family run and they’re very open with how they operate the business. It’s great to be a part of this company.”
After graduating from Brooklyn College, Assis built her career by working for names like CNN and Cartoon Network. She has a background of working in fashion, toys, accessories and more. She officially started her licensing career in Tel Aviv, Israel after her time with Turner Broadcasting. Before starting at Komar last year as vice president of licensing, Assis worked as licensing director for Accutime. Assis also made the 2018 Influentials list for License Global.
“I thought sleepwear was just an amazing next step because I’d never really been on that side of apparel,” says Assis. “I was in accessories for many years. I love that sleepwear is all demographics. It’s very exciting for me to be able to work with infant properties as well as holiday properties now, brands I had never had experience with. It’s a lot of fun. Komar is a powerhouse and i look forward to growing the business in both fashion and character sleepwear.”
