Celebrating her 50th birthday with more fashion tie-ins, Mattel's Barbie is sponsoring two designers at London Fashion Week, which kicks off today.

Designers Roksanda Ilincic and Danielle Scutt will reciprocate by dressing one outfit each for 50 limited-edition Barbie dolls in a look inspired by their collections, plus a change of clothing during the season.

The two runway designers have very different styles. Roksanda Ilincic has been feted for her cocktail and haute couture style eveningwear, which are romantic and feminine but sliced with contemporary bravura. Edgy young designer Danielle Scutt, who is also supported by Topshop as part of the British Fashion Council's New Generation program, is showing for her second season.

"There has never been a better time for Barbie to reinforce her high fashion credentials and with Danielle Scutt and Roksanda Ilincic, alongside our global fashion celebrations, she is ready to embrace her 50th year in style," says Richard Dickson, general manager and senior vice president of Barbie.
