Jason Richman has been named co-head, UTA’s Media Rights Group.
In his new role, Richman will run the division with Keya Khayatian, partner, UTA, who has helped lead the group since 2017. The Media Rights department represents authors, books, articles, podcasts, journalists, estates, life rights and thought leaders.
Over the last year, the Media Rights Group has closed over 250 deals. Recent deals include a Netflix film adaptation of Ghost In The Machine by Tanya Smith, Hulu’s series adaptation of Charles Yu’s novel “Interior Chinatown” and Amazon’s adaptation of Kacen Callender’s “Felix Ever After.”

Richman currently represents clients including Celeste Ng, Stacey Abrams, Charles Yu, Salman Rushdie, Jesmyn Ward, Erik Larson, Elin Hilderbrand, Jia Tolentino, Samantha Irby, and Lisa Hanawalt. He also reps the estates of Ray Bradbury, Charles Beaumont, Walter Dean Myers, and Norman Mailer.
He recently negotiated the sale of the rights to Celeste Ng’s debut novel “Everything I Never Told You” to Annapurna TV. That deal came on the heels of his negotiations for the Hulu’s miniseries adaptation of her bestselling novel “Little Fires Everywhere.”
