Terry Green is stepping down as Tesco's head of clothing to be replaced by Richard Jones, a one-time Sainsbury executive and a man who says he has retail in his blood. Jones was widely credited with the successful launch of the Tu clothing brand when he was head of non-food at Sainsbury's.

Terry Green's five-year contract with Tesco is coming to an end and it is reported that he will continue on project work for the retailer. Tesco is hoping to revive its £1 billion ($1.5 billion) clothing business in the U.K. after putting the entire range online last year in an attempt to close the gap with ASDA's George label. Tesco is currently the fourth-biggest clothing retailer by volume in the U.K. behind ASDA, Primark and Marks & Spencer. At the retail week conference last week, Terry Green said that Tesco's F&F fashion brand would be the biggest clothing brand in the world within the next five years.
