Retailer Target is bolstering its upper management team with several new key appointments.

Casey Carl, president, omni-channel, and senior vice president, strategy, will now assume the role of chief strategy and innovation officer for the company. Carl will report to Brian Cornell, chairman and chief executive officer. Carl will also lead a newly created center of excellence that will aim to strengthen the retailer's data, analytics and business intelligence capabilities. Paritosh Desai will oversee the new effort on the day-to-day in his role as senior vice president, enterprise data, analytics and business intelligence.

Chief marketing officer Jeff Jones will expand his role within the company to now include leading Target’s work in architecting the guest experience across all channels and touch points. Jones will too lead a new guest center of excellence, designed to develop a sense of advocacy for the guest in all of its business decisions.

Laysha Ward has been promoted to executive vice

president, chief corporate social responsibility officer. Ward’s expanded purview will include the community relations, global affairs and sustainability teams, as well as Target Foundation.

To continue to drive mobile and e-commerce, Jason Goldberger has been named president, Target.com and mobile. Dawn Block will now be senior vice president of the group.

Finally, John Hulbert has been named vice president, investor relations.
