Academy Award-winning actor will help re-introduce the bourbon brand in the U.S.

Bourbon brand Wild Turkey has tapped actor Matthew McConaughey to serve as the brand’s creative director.

In his new role, McConaughey will be the chief storyteller for Wild Turkey, both behind the camera and in front of it. He will also help re-introduce the bourbon brand through a series of television and digital advertising campaigns that launched last month.

“Wild Turkey has the history and qualities of a brand that depicts the dedication of someone to do something their own way–even if that way isn’t always the most popular,” says McConaughey. “I want to help share their unique story, starting with a new ad campaign that I feel really captures the special essence of this brand while introducing itself like never before.”

A short film chronicling McConaughey’s experience with Wild Turkey’s distilling family, the Russells, has also been released on YouTube. In addition to the film, the actor will also be featured the digital and print advertising campaigns.
