NORTH AMERICA–The Hudson Bay Company has tapped Helena Foulkes to serve as its new chief executive officer, effective Feb.19.

In her new role, Foulkes will oversee the global strategy and operations of all Hudson Bay Co. properties including Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Gilt.com and Lord & Taylor in the U.S., Galeria Kaufhof and Galeria Inno in Europe and Hudson’s Bay in Canada. She succeeds Jerry Storch, who vacated the spot in October.

Foulkes enters the company as its Lord & Taylor, Gilt.com, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH and Kaufhof businesses have suffered financial loss. She will work to sustain the company’s history of monetizing its real estate for acquisitions and managing debt, as well as developing new opportunities for the brick and mortar experience.

Most recently, Foulkes served as the executive vice president of CVS Health and president of CVS Pharmacy. She is credited with helping to grow the company into a leading pharmacy health provider in the U.S., making the decision to discontinue the sale of tobacco at the retailer and the creation of CVS digital. Foulkes served in other roles at Goldman & Sachs and Tiffany & Co.

In addition to her new role as chief operating officer, Foulkes will serve on the company’s board of directors.
