Genius Brands Up Two Execs

Lloyd Mintz and Deb Pierson will now spearhead domestic and international licensing and distribution strategies for the company.

NORTH AMERICA–Genius Brands International has promoted two of its top executives–Lloyd Mintz and Deb Pierson.

Mintz has been promoted to senior vice president of worldwide consumer products. In his new role, he will expand his current areas of oversight, taking on direct responsibility for increasing global awareness for the company’s roster of brands. He will also spearhead the development and implementation of worldwide licensing and merchandising for Genius Brands’ signature properties.

Mintz joined Genius Brands in 2014 as the company’s vice president of consumer products. Previously, he had managed his own consulting business and held a number of licensing positions with Hasbro and Disney Consumer Products.

Pierson has been promoted to the position of senior vice president, global content distribution and marketing. In her new role, she will be responsible for oversight of Genius Brand’s global content distribution business for properties including “SpacePOP,” “Llama Llama” and “Rainbow

Rangers,” among others.

She will also identify potential co-production partners and advise on the development of new and acquired properties for international and domestic distribution. In addition, she will work to drive the expansion of the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel both domestically and internationally.

Pierson joined Genius Brands in March 2016 as general manager of the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel and was promoted to president of the Channel in December 2016. Prior to Genius Brands, she held a number of distribution and licensing positions with companies such as Kabillion and Neopets.

“Many of Genius Brands achievements of the past several years can be directly credited to the efforts of Deb Pierson and Lloyd Mintz,” says Andy Heyward, chairman and chief executive officer, Genius Brands. “Both are stellar executives who are committed to our goal of providing intelligent entertainment experiences for today’s children, including the migration of brand across multiple platforms so that fans can engage with the bands they love in every aspect of their life. These promotions are well earned, and I am very excited to see how Deb and Lloyd will flourish in their expanded roles with the company.”
