NORTH AMERICA–Barnes & Noble has tapped Timothy Mantel to serve as its chief merchandising officer, effective immediately.

In his new role, Mantel will oversee sales and profitability in merchandising across numerous categories including books, toys and games, gifts, newsstand, music and entertainment.

Prior to Barnes & Noble, Mantel served as chief merchandising officer at GNC Corporation and senior vice president, food and household essentials, Target.
