Live Nation is on board to help the popular hip-hop group re-introduce its classic fashion brand to the market.
NORTH AMERICA–Robert Diggs and Oliver Grant, two of the original founders of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, have partnered with Live Nation’s merchandise division to re-launch the group’s Wu Wear clothing brand.
The new Wu Wear collection will launch with re-releases of classic designs as well as products that represent an “updated aesthetic” that remains true to the fashion brand’s roots.
Originally released in 1995, Wu Wear was the first artist-inspired hip-hop clothing line and is considered a pioneer in street fashion. Despite the brand’s discontinuation at major retailers in 2008, the brand has maintained its popularity around the world.
“Just like Wu-Tang Clan’s music, the Wu Wear brand has stood the test of time for the primary fact of its uniqueness,” says Diggs. “Being a sound and style that is hip-hip in its foundation, it has evolved to be a subculture of its own. The spirit and swag that the brand invokes has been inspirational to multiple generations across a diverse spectrum. Although, there have been pirates who’ve sought to imitate the brand, there’s nothing like the real thing and this official re-launch by the founders will be just that–‘The real Wu Wear/Wu-Tang brand.’”
Select pieces from the new Wu Wear collection will be available at retail this holiday season, with a full fashion range slated for release in spring/summer 2018 to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary. The line will also be available at select major retail chains internationally.
