U.S. TV network AMC and the Amusement Park of Madrid (Parque de Atracciones de Madrid) have brought the TV show "The Walking Dead" to life at the Spanish theme park.
The partnership was brokered by Enjoy Brand Licensing, which represents the TV brand in Spain and Portugal, and global licensing agent Striker Entertainment.
Open to guests year-round, The Walking Dead Experience features a maze inspired by the original AMC series.
“Theme park attractions are a natural fit for AMC’s The Walking Dead franchise, and it is clear to us that Parque de Atracciones de Madrid understands what resonates with the fans of the series," says Martine Berreitter, director of operations and international business, Striker Entertainment. "This partnership with Parque de Atracciones de Madrid will be what we anticipate to be the first of many permanent attractions worldwide.”
Created in collaboration with "The Walking Dead’s" development team, the maze features memorable scenes from the series including the Governor´s house, the prison, the cellblock where the infection began and Terminus. Of course, as in the series, the maze is also overrun by Walkers (a.k.a. zombies).
“We are thrilled to be working with the Amusement Park of Madrid on this great collaboration to bring the world of The Walking Dead to our dedicated fans in Europe," says Theresa Beyer, senior vice president, promotion, activation and partnerships, AMC. "We can’t wait for visitors to experience first-hand some of the iconic settings and moments from the record-breaking series.”
