The Australian licensing agency is on board to secure new retail opportunities for Shaun the Sheep and Enid Blyton.
AUSTRALIA–Aardman has appointed Merchantwise to represent Shaun the Sheep, among other properties, for licensing in Australia and New Zealand. Merchantwise has also been tapped to represent Hachette Children’s Group’s Enid Blyton portfolio for licensing.
For Aardman, Merchantwise will aim to maximize retail opportunities for Shaun the Sheep in both Australia and New Zealand, as well as partner with the company to release a series of activities, games and clips to celebrate the brand’s 10-year anniversary. ABC Commercial has also signed on to release the 10 years of Shaun DVD next month.
In addition to Shaun the Sheep, Merchantwise will also represent Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.
As for Enid Blyton, the agency will work with Hachette to secure a variety of retail opportunities for the author’s portfolio, which consists of 800 titles translated into 40 languages.
“Australians can’t get enough of British brands and that includes favorites such as Shaun the Sheep and Enid Blyton,” says Alan Schauder, managing director, Merchantwise. “Ten years for a sheep is pretty incredible and is testament to the strength of the Shaun the Sheep brand that Aardman has created, we look forward to celebrating throughout the remainder of the year with the ABC commercial DVD release. We have some great plans gearing up for the theatrical release of our favorite sheep which will be equally as epic as the adventures he will be undertaking in his second feature film.
“We are excited to be representing Enid Blyton Entertainment in Australia and are currently working with specialty partners on licensing ranges to complement the already existing adult audience and engage with children new to the series,” continues Schauder. “The size of Enid Blyton’s portfolio presents some incredible retail opportunities for the brand.”
