Turner Broadcasting U.K. will launch truTV, a new general entertainment channel available via digital terrestrial free-to-air, in the U.K. this summer.

The new 24-hour channel promises will feature a mix of original and unscripted programming, widening Turner’s portfolio to all U.K. homes.

truTV will showcase content that focuses on real people and situations with the lineup set to include “Fear Factor,” “Hardcore Pawn: Chicago,” “Killer Karaoke,” “Container Wars,” “South Beach Tow,” “Redneck Island” and “Ink Masters.”

The launch of truTV in the U.K. follows the channel’s U.S. success, where it is currently watched in 93 million homes.

The U.K. portfolio will build on the pipeline of original, unscripted content from Turner U.S., complimented by a slate of acquisitions in partnership with third parties such as Endemol and Zodiak Rights.

“truTV is larger-than-life, compulsive viewing,” says Jemma Yates, director of general entertainment, the U.K. and Ireland, Turner Broadcasting. “The channel invites the audience into the worlds of real people in real-life situations and gives them a chance to experience the often dynamic, amazing and always entertaining situations that ensue.”
