Taking place April 7-9, the Powamekka Café will take over New York’s Sweet Chick restaurant on Ludlow Street, which is owned by John Seymour and Nas. The café will give Tupac’s friends, family and fans the chance to revisit the late rapper through a curated collection of personal photos from his childhood, his poetry and music memorabilia from his favorite artists. The café will also feature his favorite food, including meatloaf, gumbo and his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings.
Additional information regarding the upcoming clothing and merchandise line is forthcoming.
“Tupac continues to impact music, art, fashion and culture around the world and Powamekka Café will offer his fans a new and personal way to reconnect with him through his passion for food and the restaurant he dreamed of opening,” says Mat Vlasic, chief executive officer, Bravado. “It’s our duty to create opportunities for our artists to fulfill their creative vision and give their fans new ways to engage with them and their music. We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with Tom and the Estate to bring Powamekka Café to Tupac’s fans, family and friends.”
The Powamekka Café will be located at 178 Ludlow St. in New York’s Lower East Side. Reservations for the pop-up café will be taken exclusively by restaurant technology company, Reserve, on a first-come-first-serve basis at Reserve.com/r/powamekka-cafe.
