ITV Studios Global Entertainment has appointed Global Licensing to represent the TV series "Thunderbirds Are Go" in New Zealand.

The remake of the classic Gerry Anderson series is being co-produced by ITV Studios and New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures in association with Weta Workshop and will debut later this year to coincide with the brand's 50th anniversary. The show has already premiered on ITV in the U.K., and TVNZ will air the series on TV2 beginning April 12.

“New Zealand has a long history and affection for 'Thunderbirds,' as well as past merchandising and promotional success, so we are very excited about the launch of the new 'Thunderbirds Are Go' TV series," says Mark Paul, director, Global Licensing. "We expect a whole new generation of fans will come to love the brand as much as their parents and grandparents have over the years."

Global Licensing has worked with master toy partner Vivid Imaginations to appoint Planet Fun as the brand's local toy distributor in New Zealand. "Thunderbirds Are Go" toys will roll out across the territory this spring/summer including figurines, vehicles, play sets, die cast, role-play and dress-up products.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Global Licensing and are confident that their extensive experience will be invaluable to launching 'Thunderbirds Are Go' in what is a key territory for the brand," says Trudi Hayward, senior vice president, head of global merchandising, ITVS GE. "Viewers will be delighted with the launch of the new series through our strong broadcast partner TVNZ and the signing of a leading local toy partner that will bring an exciting and innovative toy line to young fans in the region.”
