Gaumont Animation new CGI remake of the animated series “Calimero” (104 x 11) is set to premiere in France on TF1 Feb. 9.

The reimagined “Calimero” series, which was created in 1963, is also set to air in Italy, Germany, Disney Junior, Tokyo, Quebec and Switzerland.

The series was created in partnership with brand owner Calidra, Italy’s Studio Campedelli and Japanese partners TV Tokyo and Kodansha.

“We are eager for the new ‘Calimero’ series to conquer the hearts of a whole new generation in the same way the original character had in our youth,” says Pierre Belaïsch, managing director, Gaumont Animation. “TF1 have been extremely supportive throughout the production process and their commitment was key in trying to make the new ‘Calimero’ live up to its already famous name.”

Gaumont Animation distributes the program and manages the brand internationally (excluding Asia) on behalf of Calidra.
