Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, has acquired the rights to Rachel Renee Russell’s New York Times best-selling book series Dork Diaries, and is negotiations with Twilight producer Karen Rosenfelt for a film adaptation.

Published by Aladdin, a division of Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, the Dork Diaries series has more than 13 million copies in print with a seventh book due out this summer and eighth book following in the fall.
