Lucasfilm and Dice, an Electronic Arts studio, have released the new video game "Star Wars Battlefront," which was named Best of Show at E3 earlier this year.

"Star Wars Battlefront" was released Tuesday in North America and Asia, and will hit shelves in Europe today.

To celebrate, Game stores across the U.K. will open at midnight to host a nationwide Cosplay competition. The gamer with the best costume at each store will have the chance win prizes including a limited edition "Star Wars Battlefront" PlayStation 4 1TB console, 20 official Sony Star Wars controllers and more.

In the game, players live out the battles between the Rebellion and the Empire in the time period of the original Star Wars trilogy. From large-scale multiplayer matches for up to 40 players to exciting missions that can be played alone offline or with a friend, the game delivers a wide variety of the Star Wars experiences.

Fans looking to enhance their Star Wars Battlefront experience can also buy the "Star Wars Battlefront Companion" app, which features the card-based game "Base Command" that allows players to earn in-game credits for "Star Wars Battlefront" as well as connect with friends and track their career.
