EUROPE–Sony Pictures Television has appointed Rocket Licensing to manage the U.K. licensing program for its time-travelling drama series “Outlander.”
Rocket will now aim to secure a raft of partners for the television show in categories spanning apparel and accessories, calendars, posters, drinkware, novelties, shortbread, collectibles, books, trading cards, figures and more.
The first licensing deals for the brand are expected to be signed by the end of the year, with the first product launches likely to take place in fall/winter 2018. The licensing agent will also showcase “Outlander” at Brand Licensing Europe, taking place Oct. 10-12 at London’s Olympia.
“There hasn’t been a property quite like ‘Outlander’ for a very long time,” says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. “It has caught the imagination of viewers worldwide and inspired a successful licensing campaign that has enjoyed great success in the U.S. Now–at last–the U.K. has a chance to fall under the spell of this gripping tale. We’re sure the retail and consumer interest in licensed product will be equally strong.”
“Outlander” follows the story of a World War II nurse who travels back in time and finds herself in the heart of the Jacobite risings in the 1740s. The show airs on Amazon Prime Video in the U.K.
