Dubai Parks and Resorts, a Meraas Holding company, has teamed with Sony Pictures Consumer Products and International Merchandising, Promotion and Services to create a Sony Pictures Studio and Smurfs Zone at the upcoming Motiongate Dubai theme park.

The leisure and entertainment destination, which will be opened in Jebel Ali between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2016, will include a number of theme parks–Bollywood Parks Dubai, Legoland Dubai and Motiongate Dubai–as well as a retail, dining and entertainment zone called Riverpark and the a themed family hotel, Lapita Hotel.

Featuring four unique zones, one of which will be the Sony Pictures Studio and Smurfs zone, Motiongate Dubai will take visitors on a cinematic journey, bringing to life some of the most recognizable Hollywood icons from the big screen. Earlier this month DreamWorks Animation signed for another of the four zones.

"Motiongate Dubai has been designed to span a breath-taking 4 million square feet of Dubai Parks and Resorts and is anticipated

to attract 3 million visitors annually," says Raed Al Nuaimi, chief executive officer, Dubai Parks and Resorts. "We welcome Sony Pictures’ and IMPS’s presence at Motiongate Dubai. and

.

“We are very excited to partner with Dubai Parks and Resorts to create compelling attractions that extend our most iconic brands into the themed attractions,” says Gregory Economos, senior vice president, global consumer products, Sony Pictures Entertainment.
