The Copyrights Group Limited has appointed The Joester Loria Group as the licensing agent for The Snowman brand in the U.S. and Canada, on behalf of Snowman Enterprises, and announced several other deals for the brand.
JLG will launch an integrated licensing and merchandising program for The Snowman that builds on the heritage of the brand and captures the magic and excitement of the holiday season. Consumer products will feature the distinctive hand-drawn artwork from the animation with key merchandising categories including plush, games, food, apparel, fashion accessories, housewares, seasonal décor and crafts.
JLG will work closely with already appointed licensees including Kids Preferred (plush), N-Circle (home entertainment) Random House (master publisher), all of whom will have product in the market for the holiday season.
“We are delighted that the Joester Loria Group has been confirmed as the licensing agent for The Snowman and The Snowdog in the States,” says Susan Bolsover, head of licensing and consumer products, Penguin, which owns Snowman Enterprises. “We have been continually impressed with the work JLG has done on other book-based brands such as The Hungry Caterpillar and their work on translating classic properties into engaging consumer products programs means we are extremely confident that the team will do a marvelous job in further extending the reach of this incredible property in the U.S. and Canada.”
Additionally, Snowman Enterprises is currently developing a second “The Snowman and The Snowdog” game for global release later this year, after last year’s game, which was created by Channel 4, saw more than 1.2 million downloads in the U.K. alone.
Additionally, Snowman Enterprises has also selected the British Red Cross as its charity partner. The British Red Cross will incorporate The Snowman and The Snowdog in their Get Ready for Winter campaign, which encourages the U.K. public to be prepared to deal with severe weather. The brand will also be featured in the new fundraising app from Digital-Giving, “The T-Shirt Booth,” which enables people to buy personalized t-shirts featuring The Snowman and The Snowdog, with a percentage of proceeds being donated to The British Red Cross.
