NORTH AMERICA–CBS Consumer Products has tapped Shmaltz Brewing Company to debut a new craft beer to commemorate the 30th anniversary of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

The beer, called “Star Trek” Symbiosis, is a hoppy wheat ale that is inspired by the episode “Symbiosis.” In the episode, two different races from the same galaxy have found a way to peacefully coexist and work for the betterment of all. However, viewers eventually learn that their relationship is based on the false promise of felicium (which is sold by the Brekkians to the Ornarans), forcing Captain Picard to choose between upholding the Prime Directive or saving an entire civilization from exploitation.

“Star Trek” Symbiosis is available in the U.S. as four-packs at stores as well as on draft at select bars in 35 states.
