Acquisition expands the European media company's global reach.

The Italian kids' media company Rainbow has acquired the Canadian animation studio Bardel.

Bardel boasts partnerships with the world's top entertainment companies including Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, Disney, Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network-Adult Swim, and employs 650 artists across three divisions in Canada.

With the acquisition, Rainbow will now have a presence in more than 150 countries.

The deal highlights Rainbow’s focus on quality content, technological innovation and building its worldwide presence
