Rainbow’s ‘Mia and me’ Heads to the U.K.

Nickelodeon U.K. has picked up Rainbow’s girls’ series “Mia and me” for broadcast in the U.K. and Ireland.

The hybrid live-action/CGI series chronicles the adventures of 12-year old Mia as she juggles her life in the real world with another role in the magical kingdom of Centopia, where she turns into a pretty elf who becomes the guardian of the land’s unicorns.

The first season of the series already airs on more than 70 broadcasters in 80-plus territories worldwide, and Rainbow is planning a second season for fall 2014, as well as a feature film in 2015.

The brand already has a strong licensing program as well with more than 100 licensees and 600 products. A full range of licensed merchandise will launch next year in established territories, including a toy range from global toy partner Mattel and other products from Ravensburger, Egmont, Unilever, Nestle and Panini.
