Perth Mint Forges Doctor Who Gold Coins

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who,” The Perth Mint has created a limited edition line of solid gold tribute coins, under license from BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand.

The mint released a line of silver commemorative coins earlier this year.

Struck from one ounce of 99.99 percent pure gold, the coin features the TARDIS set against a background that represents multi-dimensional travel and bordered with the inscription “Doctor Who 50th Anniversary 1963-2013.”

Only 250 coins will be issued, priced at $2,995.
