Entertainment One’s Peppa Pig doubled its U.K. sales last year, and, for the first time in the brand’s history, jumped four places to rank number one in U.K. pre-school property in the total toy market, according to the NPD Group.

Peppa Pig grossed more than £200 million in UK merchandise sales in 2010, far exceeding the 2009 figure of £100 million. The brand currently has 63 licensees on board, and Entertainment One is focused on expanding fast-moving consumer goods, promotions, digital, music, and boy-specific merchandise.

Peppa Pig recently announced that its TV show will broadcast on Nick Jr. in the U.S.

“Peppa Pig reaching the No 1 spot for total pre-school toy sales is a key milestone for the brand and the £200 million retail sales figure significantly exceeded everyone’s expectations,” says Andrew Carley, head of licensing at Entertainment One. “The ongoing strength of the UK market and our plans for international expansion, notably the USA, make 2011 and beyond a hugely exciting prospect for everyone involved with Peppa.”
