Multiplayer, tabletop board game will feature the American cult classic movie.

Paramount Pictures has tapped Silly Kid Games to create a board game based on its 1979 cult classic film, The Warriors.

The Warriors: Turf Wars will allow players to control their chosen gangs and defend their home turf by battling for control of New York City. Each gang will also feature unique characteristics that are based on the characters from the movie.

“I’ve seen The Warriors countless times and am excited to collaborate with Paramount to create a board game based on the movie,” says Justin Powell, chief creative officer, Silly Kid Games. “If there’s any movie that lends itself to a tabletop game, it’s The Warriors.”

Considered an American cult classic, The Warriors follows the story of a New York City gang framed for killing a rival gang leader. The killing spurs a violent turf war, during which members of a Coney Island-based gang called The Warriors must fight their way across the city to get back to their home turf. The film also holds the No. 16 spot on Entertainment Weekly’s Top 50 Cult Movies list.

Silly Kid Games’ The Warriors: Turf Wars is now live for funding on Kickstarter.
