One Direction Tops Labor Day Box Office


The 3D concert movie One Direction: This is Us ousted Lee Daniel’s The Butler for the top spot at the U.S. box office over the three-day holiday weekend.

The flick, which stars the British boy band 1D, took in $15.8 million in its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

The movie clearly appealed to a very specific market segment, with Box Office Mojo also reporting that the audience was 87 percent female and 65 percent were under the age of 17.
