Nickelodeon U.K. has launched a new online experience, Code-It, designed to help kids explore the fundamentals of computer coding.

Aimed at kids ages 6 to 12, the website complements new national curriculum in the U.K., allowing users to manipulate a variety of Nickelodeon characters, animating them to move, changing their expression and size and more. With how-to videos and graduated levels of difficulty, Code-It allows kids to take on more and more complex coding tasks as they gain confidence. As they progress, users will also earn badges visible to other Code-It users and can upload sequences they've programmed to the animation gallery where other Code-It users can see it and try for themselves.

Code-It was developed by Nickelodeon U.K. in partnership with the digital agency We Are Tilt.

“Through Code-It we hope to help kids enhance their coding skills in a fun and engaging way and give them an opportunity to create with their favorite characters," says Suzie Adams, digital director, Nickelodeon U.K. "I’d like to think that Code-It could inspire digital animators and developers of the future.”
