The new season of “SpongeBob” will also coincide with the series’ 20th anniversary.

Nickelodeon has renewed a raft of programs from its portfolio, including “Paw Patrol,” “Shimmer and Shine,” “Rusty Rivets,” “Nella the Princess Knight” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

Renewals include a fifth season of “Paw Patrol,” a fourth season of “Shimmer and Shine,” second seasons of “Rusty Rivets” and “Nella the Princess Knight” as well as a 12th season of “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

The renewed preschool programs will debut for the 2017-18 television season. Meanwhile, the 12th season of “SpongeBob” is set to premiere in 2019 to coincide with the series’ 20th anniversary year.

Additionally, Nickelodeon will introduce a new collection of interactive, curriculum-driven preschool episodes in its “Noggin” video subscription service. The new play-along videos will allow preschoolers to engage with their favorite characters by tapping, touching, swiping or speaking to navigate through experiences that promote social-emotional skills and STEM learning.
