Two TV movies inspired by classic ’90’s series will debut.

Nickelodeon will make two new films based on its heritage portfolio of TV brands–a live action TV movie inspired by the 1990s game show “Legends of the Hidden Temple” and an animated “Hey Arnold!” movie.

The film version of “Legends of the Hidden Temple” draws on the game show’s premise that had kids compete to retrieve artifacts from a Mayan temple. In the TV movie, three siblings will embark on a life-or-death mission.

Legends of the Hidden Temple will star Nick’s Isabela Moner (“100 Things To Do Before High School”) and will begin production in March.

Nick has also given the greenlight to a two-part animated “Hey Arnold!” TV movie, written by the original series’ creator Craig Bartlett. The movie will pick up where the series ended and will resolve unanswered questions and plotlines, including the whereabouts of Arnold’s missing parents. Hey Arnold! will debut in 2017.

“The greenlights for the Legends of the Hidden Temple and Hey Arnold! TV movies are terrific examples of how we are bringing our beloved content back to life, both for new audiences and the generation that grew up on them,” says Cyma Zarghami, president, kids and family group, Viacom. “These TV movies will keep the spirit and essential themes of the original source materials intact, while branching out in new ways that will speak to and captivate today’s kids.”
