Viacom International Media Networks has closed a series of free-to-air branded block deals in Latin America and announced plans to launch Nicktoons in Mexico.

The new Nicktoons channel launches in Mexico today and features all of Nickelodeon's hit animations including “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” in a 24-hour network targeted to kids ages 6 to 14. The launch of Nicktoons will expand Nickelodeon’s reach in Mexico to nearly 20 million households.

Nick is also expanding its presence in other areas of Latin America. Brazil’s FTA broadcaster Bandeirantes signed on for a 4-year, branded block package that includes kids and teen animation as well as live-action programming.

Other deals closed for branded Nickelodeon blocks include Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso in Chile for a preschool block, El Salvador’s Canal 12 and TVN-2 in Panama.
