41 Entertainment and Arad Animation have granted MGA Entertainment the exclusive worldwide master toy license to their upcoming animated Netflix series "Kong–King of the Apes."

Set in 2050, the CGI series will present a modern take on the classic King Kong story. In "Kong," Alcatraz Island has been transformed into a natural history and marine preserve, with King Kong serving as the star attraction, but when Kong becomes public enemy No. 1, the villain that framed him is free to unleash an army of gigantic robotic dinosaurs on the unsuspecting world. Now on the run, the wrongly accused Kong is also the only force formidable enough to stop these super-powered dinosaurs.

"Kong" will debut in 2016 with a full-length feature film that will be followed by 12 half-hour episodes.

MGA's planned branded product line includes figures, electronic and action plush, play sets, vehicles, games (electronic and non-electronic) and learning aid toys for kids ages 5 to 10.

“We are very pleased to bring on board the great creativity and talents of MGAE," says Allen Bohbot, managing director, 41E. "We have a full licensing program planned and the market response has been great. We look forward to introducing more 'Kong' elements in a major way at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo in June.”
