Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises and The Topps Company are teaming up to develop the new boys action series, “Mysticons.”

The animated series, targeted to kids ages 6 to 11, will be produced by Nelvana Studio and written by veteran kids’ writer Sean Jara (“Redakai,” “Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5,” “Naturally Sadie”).

“We’re excited to be partnering with The Topps Company on a multi-platform series that has all the ingredients for success, including compelling characters and exciting stories,” said Doug Murphy, president, Corus Television. “Leveraging the Topps brand will enable us to build game play into the DNA of the series.”

The original series will be centered on four regular kids in the quiet suburb of Castletown who are called into action to double as a legendary line of heroes, known as Mysticons.

“We are thrilled to work with Corus Entertainment a globally renowned children’s broadcaster and producer,” says Michael D. Eisner, founder, The Tornante Company, owner of Topps. “Nelvana has a strong history of success in building and launching hit boys’ action properties and the partnership with Topps sets the stage for ‘Mysticons’ to be the next big global boys action franchise.”
