Moonbug Entertainment, a division of Candle Media, has bolstered its marketing leadership with strategic promotions and hiring a key industry veteran. The company announced Katelynn Heil has been promoted to head, brand marketing and franchise strategy; Mike Katzman has been named general manager, Blippi; and Juliette Premmereur has joined the team as senior director, social media. These leadership moves are part of Moonbug’s efforts to support the growth of its leading children’s brands, including CoComelon and Blippi.
“From CoComelon to Blippi and more, Moonbug’s brands are delighting audiences worldwide – and growing,” says Peter Stone, chief marketing officer, Moonbug Entertainment. “It’s crucial that our leadership team grows in kind. For over three years, Katelynn has driven strong growth for the Blippi franchise. In this newly expanded role, I'm excited for her to flex the same passion and ingenuity across our portfolio of Moonbug brands. Mike’s wide range of experiences and strong relationships across the industry puts him in a great position to further build Blippi’s unique brand of igniting curiosity in kids globally.”
In her new role as head, brand marketing and franchise strategy, Heil will optimize cross-brand and cross-functional opportunities across Moonbug’s portfolio. Heil previously served as general manager, Blippi, leading the brand’s growth into a global phenomenon. Her extensive background includes leadership positions at WarnerMedia, Otter Media and DIRECTV/AT&T. Heil was recently recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 50 Most Powerful Players in Kids Entertainment and AdAge’s 40 Under 40.
“I put a lot of my passion as a mom and superfan of Blippi into my role as general manager,” says Heil. “It was a privilege to help transform the brand into what it is today – a truly global franchise available across 40 video platforms worldwide. I can’t wait to take those learnings to supercharge growth across all of Moonbug brands to reach their full potential.”
Katzman, newly appointed general manager, Blippi, has been with Moonbug in various capacities, most recently as the interim general manager, Blippi, and director, originals, overseeing projects like “CoComelon Lane” on Netflix and partnerships with major studios. Katzman also helped expand Blippi into Roblox and has a diverse background in media investment and strategy from his time at CAA, Production Resource Group and Strategic Offsites Group.
“Blippi is a truly special brand that brings joy to millions of preschoolers and their families by celebrating how to learn through play,” says Katzman. “I’ve been amazed by the passion of our global fanbase, who know every episode, attend our live shows and listen to our songs on repeat. I’m honored to lead such a beloved brand and excited to delight our fans with all new content, experiences and products.”
Premmereur joins Moonbug as senior director, social media, a newly created role. Based in London, Premmereur will be tasked with maximizing the creative and commercial potential of Moonbug’s social media presence. Her previous experience includes running brand marketing and social media across EMEA for Prime Video and serving as managing director, Semaine.com.
“In the coming years, there is both immense potential and inevitable change on social media platforms,” says Stone. “As Moonbug continues to inspire and entertain families across the world, I’m confident that Juliette will be a strong leader to help us deepen our connections to audiences and optimize along the way.”
“Families all over the world connect on social media about their love for Blippi, CoComelon and many of the Moonbug brands,” says Premmereur. “This passionate fandom is what brought me to the world of children’s media. I look forward to bringing my experience running social accounts, including the complexities of editorial and brand content, influencer and talent management and always innovating in a fast-changing space.”
