Mind Candy has announced plans to produce an animated series based on its hero kids’ brand Moshi Monsters, with distribution discussions kicking off at Licensing Expo next week in Las Vegas, Nev.

The planned 52 x 11-minute series will be based on the most popular characters from the Moshi world and will be distributed to both linear and digital platforms.

Jocelyn Stevenson, executive creative producer, film and TV projects, Mind Candy, will lead the production.

“We’re looking forward to telling a wide range of new stories with these cartoons and taking the Moshi Monsters characters to new fans all around the world,” says Michael Acton Smith, founder and creator, Moshi Monsters.

The online world, MoshiMonsters.com, contains 200-plus characters aimed at boys and girls ages 6 to 12 and currently has more than 80 million registered users in 150 territories worldwide.

Following its online success, Mind Candy expanded the brand into the physical world with a range of consumer products that include toys, books, trading cards, two chart-topping Nintendo DS video game titles and a magazine.
