Viacom-owned series extends presence with live activation on cruise ships.
SpikeTV and Carnival Cruise Lines have joined forces to feature a re-creation of the TV series “Lip Sync Battle” on select Carnival ships.
Brandgenuity, SpikeTV’s exclusive licensing agent, brokered the deal.
Lip Sync Battle Carnival will allow contests to face off in a head-to-head competition to create the most unforgettable lip sync performance to popular songs. The experience will also include props, costumes, high-tech lighting and sound effects, a backdrop featuring the “Lip Sync Battle” signature marquee, DJ booth and dancers from Carnival’s Playlist Productions shows.
“We’re delighted to offer this existing new entertainment activity to our guests,” says Christine Duffy, president, Carnival Cruise Line. “Lip Sync Battle Carnival takes the brand’s participatory fun to the next level, providing our guests with a chance to showcase their talents and demonstrate their creativity with their fellow guests cheering them on.”
Contests for the cruise line’s version of the show will be chosen at the beginning of their cruise, following rounds of competitions on the Lido Deck. Two finalists will then be selected and will have the opportunity to work with Carnival’s on-board entertainment experts to select their sets, props and accessories. After the final performance, the winner will be selected by an audience vote and receive a special prize unique to the show.
“‘Lip Sync Battle’ has a footprint in more than 150 countries worldwide–so now it’s time to hit the oceans as well,” says Dan Yang, executive vice president and general manager, consumer products, Viacom Media Networks. “Our multi-platform hit is an international phenomenon and yet another example how Viacom is able to extend its brands to legions of fans off of linear television.”
Lip Sync Battle Carnival will debut on the Carnival Vista ship in December, following with a rollout on additional ships in 2017.
