The Hunger Games, “Orange is the New Black” and more inspire mall-based leisure centers.

Lionsgate has teamed up with Parques Reunidos to develop a series of branded leisure centers in shopping malls and high-traffic shopping areas.

Each leisure center will be inspired by some of Lionsgate’s top properties such as the Saw franchise, The Hunger Games, Now You See Me, “Orange is the New Black” and “Nashville.”

“We’re excited to be partnering with Parques Reunidos,” says Jenefer Brown, senior vice president, location based entertainment, Lionsgate. “They have proven success in the leisure market, and we feel they are the perfect partners to help us bring fans closer to the properties they love through these compelling, innovative experiences.”

Parques Reunidos is currently negotiating the development of 20 centers that will open in the coming years, in addition to five agreements the company has already signed with the Thader Shopping Mall in Murcia, Dolce Vita Tejo in Lisbon, Intu Lakeside in London and two at Madrid Xanadú.

"This agreement enables us to continue growing by using one of the strongest tools for international expansion, leisure centers in shopping malls and high-traffic shopping areas, and we are doing this hand in hand with Lionsgate, one of the most successful film and television production companies in the world,” says Fernando Eiroa, chief executive officer, Parques Reunidos. "This agreement joins those already signed in recent months and highlights the speed and efficacy with which we are closing major alliances. This enables us to accelerate our growth and consolidate our leadership of the sector.”
