Lionsgate and online commerce company Alibaba Group have joined forces to launch a subscription TV and movie streaming service for mainland China that will be available exclusively through Alibaba's latest generation of set-top box.

The Lionsgate Entertainment World service will provide users of the Alibaba platform with instant access to such Hollywood blockbusters such as the first installment of the Divergent franchise, several titles from the Twilight Saga franchise and Lionsgate-distributed television series such as "The Royals," "Nashville," "Rosemary's Baby," "Mad Men" and "Weeds."

The service's portfolio of content will be continuously expanded after launch.
