LazyTown Supports Health in Hungary

FruitVeb, coordinator of the International School Fruit Scheme Program in Hungary, has teamed with LazyTown for this year’s campaign to promote healthy eating.

Throughout October more than 500,000 children in grades 1 through 6 will participate in the E.U.-funded national program, which delivers fresh fruit and vegetables (or SportsCandy as its known on the TV series “LazyTown”) to schools.

FruitVeb and LazyTown have partnered to launch a corresponding campaign, SportsCandy!.

The SportsCandy program centers on a classroom competition in which each class keeps track of their daily fruit consumption by placing SportsCandy stickers on the LazyTown SportsCandy Tree.

The program also includes LazyTown-branded classroom activities including a poster, stickers, booklets and DVDs promoting online activity routines on the LazyTown microsite.

“LazyTown leads by example to motivate kids to make healthy choices. SportsCandy is an important part of that–it’s Sportacus’s go-to source of energy, and gives

the LazyTown kids energy to play, have fun and save LazyTown from villain Robbie Rotten’s lazy schemes,” says Halli Kristinsson, head of business development and public relations, LazyTown. “Through fun and entertainment, LazyTown helps children discover the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.”
