Focusing on the teenage years of Dracula’s daughter Mavis and her friends, the animated series will be developed and produced by Nelvana Studio in Toronto, Canada, and is slated to launch on air in early 2017.

The theatrical release of
, which premiered in fall 2012, set a record as the highest-grossing September opening ever at the U.S. box office. The sequel
2 is slated to hit theaters Sept. 25.
