GLOBAL–In a move to further bolster its entertainment offerings, Hasbro has hired Greg Mooradian to oversee the company’s film division Allspark Pictures, according to Variety.

As president, Mooradian will oversee the division’s film and television production, beginning this January. Mooradian is currently a production executive at Fox 2000. Previously, he worked at Paramount and helped guide properties like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” G.I. Joe and Transformers to the big screen.

Variety also reports that the company has been trying to attract funding in the nine-figure range to properly develop its own lineup of films for some time now. Hasbro currently has a distribution deal with Paramount; however, the company wants to expand the relationship so Paramount is also partnering on financing films and developing projects, rather than just distributing movies inspired by Hasbro’s properties, including Transformers and G.I. Joe.

Furthermore, Variety reports that Hasbro has previously contemplated buying a movie and television company. In 2014, the company was in discussions with DreamWorks before they ended over price disagreements. The studio was also looking to purchase Lionsgate, but called off negotiations after a deal could not be reached.
